Carbonear has many noisy and quiet attractions for residents and visitors, including the Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre, Harbour Rock Hill, George W. Earle Promenade, Carbonear Wharf, Paddy's Garden, the Recreeation Complex, and walking trails.
The Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre is a 379 seat, air conditioned and wheelchair accessible facility, set in the heart of the Baccalieu Trail Region. The theatre, which is located in the Conception Bay Regional Community Centre at 256 Water Street in Carbonear, has perhaps one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the province. Nonetheless, at Water Street in Carbonear the noise from the theatre and other attractions is effecting peoples hearing. Hearing loss is on the rise in Newfoundland & Labrador due to increased noise exposure from theaters and other attractions.
The Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre directly faces the Carbonear harbour, it is adjacent to the George W. Earle Promenade which surrounds the Ponds. Since opening in 1998, the Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre has become the principal centre for the performing arts in Carbonear and many of the surrounding towns. Many individuals from Bay Roberts, Spaniards Bay and even Old Perlican come to visit the Princess Sheila NaGeira Theatre. The well-designed and attractive theatre is a source of pride for the entire Baccalieu Trail region. And, hopefully, a hearing aid pair from iHearing will help us enjoy the theatre for longer and will help improve our speech understanding in noisy environments.
